Jeremy Heer is the incoming Managing Director, Investment Research & Engagement at the University of Illinois Foundation. In this role he advances learning, research, and engagement activities within the Investment Office. He supports and advances the Foundation’s thesis-driven and outbound sourcing efforts and diligence through conducting research and analysis, acting as a thought partner to the rest of the investment team, and acting as a bridge to the investment community and University of Illinois System development partners.
Previously, Jeremy was the senior portfolio manager for the strategy group at the University of Chicago. In this role, he primarily supported the Managing Director of Strategy in developing and managing the overall investment strategy for the endowment and other University pools of capital. He also served as the senior portfolio manager for the University’s investments in private equity limited partnerships during his time there.
Jeremy has also held roles in multi-asset investment management for Singer Partners, UBS Global Asset Management, and Morgan Stanley Investment Management, and has worked in risk management and derivatives-related roles at Morgan Stanley and Cargill Investor Services. Jeremy earned an MBA with concentrations in finance and statistics from the Stern School of Business at New York University and a BS in finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is a CFA Charterholder, a grader of the exam, and a contributor to the curriculum. He also volunteers for the CFA Society of Chicago and currently serves as the Secretary-Treasurer of the Board of Directors. Furthermore, Jeremy is a CAIA Charterholder and serves on CAIA’s Allocator Advisory Board.
